Late night makes me feel like writing. I have been quite conscientious on updating my blog – I love my new website. I simplified and further simplified. The new Look book is a real hit among brides and I really love the clear layout to showcase my work.I have learnt more about website coding and color codes and those technical terms than I would have normally care for. I am pretty proud of myself and hey, it proves that it just takes some determination to venture into the unknown.
Having said that, I launched my new website especially for my 3D eyebrow embroidery. It used to be together in this website but I really didn’t like to see beautiful brides pictures and then suddenly a picture of an eyebrow, albeit it being beautiful too, I thought it lost some of the romantic touch I like to maintain in my website. Hence, from now on do refer to my yet another beautiful website – Sozo by Cleo Chang

My brides on fb will somewhat know I am quite busy. Half a year has gone by and I love Joo Chiat which is where my studio is. Its really kampung spirit here. I love it when the uncle at the drink stall knew my orders and especially when the Indian stall uncle gave me big bowl of mutton coz he knows I love them. Studio looks exceptionally beautiful in the morning when the sunlight shines through the attic window. It can be alittle lonely working alone but I have Castle with me.
He is about 1.5 years old now and extremely playful. I cant imagine life without him anymore. He pulled down my curtains and attempted to fight it when he is very bored when Mummy is working. Hence he is always delighted if the grooms come along so someone can play with him. So next time if you happen to visit, just say hi to him while he barks his hellos to you and pat him on his head. Castle is an attention seeker but is really sweet. The nights when I stayed up late, Castle will leave his bed and come to my room to look for me – I have to sleep after that to make him happy.
My friends are saying I will become an old deranged dog-loving woman coz I am always working. I think after graduation, I have never stop working – Mon to Sundays. I am literally lost when I suddenly have weekends free. What do people do on weekends? Even now, people think that hey, full-time makeup artist, you should have alot of time now. Somehow I just manage to find things to do. I go gym now. I finally admit that I have reached an age whereby exercising becomes necessary. If you are at Fitness first JEM, you might see a forlorn figure there on tuesday mornings.
Hence I can only talk about work – its the centre of my life besides family. This year brought me to London, Iceland and Bali. All 3 places meant alot to me. I made 2 wonderful travel buddies and Iceland was a fantastic short trip. We missed our flight, had ghostly encounters, car stuck in sand and I fulfilled a promise I made to myself when I was younger – to wear a wedding gown before I reached 30 if I am not married yet. So there you go, helping Joe from Acapella Photography in his pictures as his model and having tons of fun along the way.
I love the picture in the red gown – The snow on my hair, the wind in my face, wandering lost amidst the cruel wildness alone yet strong. I like the poetic elements of it. If anyone is considering, Iceland is a beautiful place. And we might be going again next year so join us if you are interested.
I will be heading back to Taiwan again in August for a good break and to accompany my mum for her hospital visits and taking more lessons again (nothing new). I am bracing myself for the wedding season at the end of the year all the way till next year Jan. I am grateful for the blessings I have received just this half of the year and can’t wait to meet the rest of the brides. So here I end with this family shoot done by Ivan. Couldn’t have done anything without them :)
Meg knew the look she wanted and was pretty disappointed when she knew i was booked on her timeslots. But we did some maneuvering of the timings and here we have, I love these pictures by Ivan. Did I mention I love working with him? His pictures make me just so happy.
I gave Meg a rosy radiant complexion and a slightly smokey eye color as she is used to heavier eye makeup. The lovely skin texture (which Ivan mentioned, not photoshopped at all) is achieved by the use of airbrush makeup for a polished look. Hairdo was assisted by Kacey who was a great help as we only had a short window of time to complete Meg’s look.

Updos are gaining popularity these days. They are elegant and versatile. A beautifully done updo can carry you through the whole wedding effortlessly. And these days, I always have brides requesting to have all updos for her wedding looks because they think its just more timeless and elegant. I do think so too. But I might just be biased :)
Starting the new year with something new. I love doing weddings for other culture because there are always something new to learn from them. Irliana had me for her ROMM and night banquet with her friends as she wanted a more modern and fresh interpretation for her gowns.
For the evening, a neat updo and a sweet ribbon to go with her sweet personality. Irliana has a whole drawer of ribbon hairbands and we like to show that on her wedding day. This is just her.
Most of the time, timeless designs are usually the simplest. Helin requested for a low chignon because that is how she does her own hair most of the time.
To look like but a lovelier version of oneself. I always love this statement.
Zhaoshan’s hair was given alot of texture and it looked extremely nice when the hair color is lighter. Hence it is always good to dye the hair to a lighter shade. And a Half body portrait is necessary when you know your bride is wearing a Jenny Packham gown.
Brides to be always ask me what is the difference between ROM and the actual day wedding. The most apparent difference will ROM is always a causal affair, for a few friends and close family members. It will be a short affair and brides are usually decked out in their simpler and more causal dresses.
Hence in terms of makeup and hairstyles we always go with clean fresh makeup and hairstyles that is not overdone to go with the special occasion.

Yvoonne had me for her actual day and her pre-wedding. And I am really happy I made such a good friend who is always so supportive. Thank you for having me.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! words cannot explain how much I loved my make up and you! Loved the day one A LOT because it was so light and natural and glowy (although I only had 3 hours of snooze!). People were telling me how good I looked, I told them it’s the make up by Cleo!
Comments like this make me feel very blessed to be in my job.

We celebrate the coming of spring with this gorgeous wedding shoot taken in the rustic settings of Fort Canning park in midst of a heavy storm. What is Spring without a few drops of rain? Welcoming of the blooming of flowers, the beautiful lightings that shine through after the storm and the lovely creative creations by the team.
For the makeup of this shoot, I visualize a soft beauty look in neutral and pastel palette of blush and browns to go with the rustic theme and the colors of spring. Jade’s makeup is slightly different from my usual bridal makeup. It is a slightly smokey eye but kept really soft and clean. I opened up her eyes with the use of bottom eyelashes. Its dramatic yet soft. Her skin is kept radiant with a glow which I love so much with the help of airbrush makeup. The even-ness of the complexion achieved by the airbrush makeup looks fantastic on camera and it still looks so natural.
Her first hairstyle is an updo with texture. We curled Jade’s hair extensively to create romantic soft curls to soften the look while creating an airy glamorous yet understated look to match her flowing gown. While her second hairstyle looks divine with the pairing of the gorgeous necklace-turned-hairpiece in a fairy-inspired hairstyle.
